St Mary's Church has stood above the Hythe Quay in Maldon for nearly nine hundred years. It's famous lantern acted, for centuries, as a navigational aid to seafarers and the church is still known as the sailors' church today. To spend some time in prayer within its ancient walls is to experience a peace and atmosphere hard to find in today's busy world.

In January we were happy to welcome Fr. Andrew Appiah who is priest in charge of St. Mary's, Maldon with St. Mary's, Mundon, St. Barnabas, Mayland and Christchurch, Latchingdon.

There is generally a lot going on with regular activities throughout the week, including Welcome Wednesday, a monthly soup lunch (3rd Tuesday), Coffee and Lunch (1st Saturday) and a thriving and celebrated choir.

Our worship centres on the Eucharist, with the main Parish Mass (Common Worship) being 10am on Sunday and a said Mass on Tuesdays at the same time. On the first Sunday of the month we have  choral Evensong at 6pm, with settings of the canticles from the sixteenth century to the present day. The church is listed on choralevensong.org.

We look forward to welcoming you to our church.
