Church Buildings
The Parish of Langham with Boxted came into being in 1999. The previously separate parishes of Langham (St. Mary's Church) and Boxted (St. Peter's Church) had shared a single priest for over twenty years, during which co-operation between the two parishes had become ever closer and more effective.
The two parochial church councils eventually decided that the Church’s mission would be even more effective if they operated as one and so asked for the union of the two parishes, which was duly brought about by Order in Council. Unusually, the single parish has retained two parish churches in recognition of their serving two distinct communities, each with its own history and characteristics.
