About Us

St Mary the Virgin Church, Gestingthorpe, stands in the centre of the village near both the Village Hall and the Playing Field/Park. Set back from the road, and nestled amongst trees, the views over the surrounding fields are beautiful. A haven of rest, it is a perfect place to pray, and to think about God.

Services take place here most Sundays. Children and families are always welcome. We also join other parishes in the Halstead Team for services each month. See our service schedule on the Services and Other Events page.

Some parts of our Church date from the 14th Century. It is particularly well knows for the splendid east window, stained glass windows donated by the Oates family in the late 19th Century, and the impressive 'double hammer-beam' roof and locally made red brick tower.
