Children in Church

Children are most welcome at all our services. We have plenty of space for tiny explorers but also closed-end pews if you'd prefer them in one place! There are books and toys at the back of church if you need some quiet time.

Helping your child enjoy church and take part, however young they are

Before you go to church and during the week

talk about going to church – what you might see, hear, smell, etc. get used to saying prayers and singing songs or hymns

In church

sit near the front where you can see what is going on

together look for candles, organ, flowers, coloured robes and altar cloths .

help children to hold up books and “join in” - don't worry if they sing "baa, baa black sheep" while the rest of us sing "Lamb of God", encourage them to sing when the congregation sings and to pray when the congregation prays.

bring a few quiet toys in a drawstring bag, give them out one at a time to sustain interest .

Jobs for all!

Children and teenagers can join the choir (every Sunday or special services only);
