About Us
At St Margaret’s we believe that the church is not about the building, beautiful and historic as it is.
It is ALL about the people.
We are a vibrant family of worshippers from all walks of life and of all ages. We believe that everyone was created for relationships – with God and with each other. So our worship also involves the chance to socialise have fun and learn. We offer special activities for the children who play and learn alongside us during our informal services.
Our approach extends to the wider community as we support what we call Catch Up events in Toot Hill, such as a café in the village hall and a refreshments tent at the village show.
Our priest The Revd. Neil Taylor leads regular short courses at the village pub where we can collectively learn more about the gospel and our faith – as well as socialising, of course.
We count our blessings from God and believe that we have a responsibility to celebrate them in the way that we care for our precious resources - people, time and money.
As a result, our church is growing in popularity and relevance.
Please come and join us – you’ll receive a very warm welcome.
The church building is one of the oldest in Essex, dating from the twelfth century. It has had very little alteration, with no Victorian additions, no Lady Chapel or side chapels.
The church is a beautiful, peaceful building well worth a visit. It is open daily; visitors are welcome to rest and enjoy the peace of an English country church.
The church is a popular venue for special services such as baptisms, weddings and funerals and there is a thriving social programme.
We are committed to ensuring that St Margaret's Church is a safe place for all. For further information, please see the Safeguarding tab.
