We begin in darkness as a new fire is lit, Walking into church carrying candles lit from the new Paschal Candle. We hear the ancient hymn "The Exultet". This is followed by stories from the Old Testament before we hear for the first time the Gospel announcing Jesus' resurrection. We renew our baptism vows and commitments to the resurrected Lord - and then finish with something suitably wine like to begin our Easter celebrations.

Epping: St John the Baptist

St John's Church is an active parish church with a congregation mostly drawn from the town of Epping and representing and including a wide cross-section of the community and different ways of expressing faith. We work with all the local schools, including the local church secondary school and have several different children's groups for different ages, including a mid-week pre-school age group. We have good community links, acting as a concert venue. We hold an annual Christmas Tree Festival as well as other events through the year.
