The PCC is delighted to report that the level of fundraising needed to repair the nave roof, and high level stonework and windows, has now enabled them to appoint a contractor to start work in February. So a huge thank you is due to all who have contributed to this essential maintenance programme. Your contributions will enable the church to remain open, and in daily use, once the work has been completed. As is common with all building contracts, there will be some disruption while the works are progressing. The PCC will be discussing how to minimise this, with the contractor, later this month. Details of any changes to accessing the church and churchyard will then be advertised on this website. It is regretted that the church will be closed to the public for the duration of the works, except for Sunday Services and funerals.
We are delighted that The Revd Lynda Sebbage has joined us as Team Vicar with the Saffron Walden and Villages Team, with special responsibility for the parishes of Debden and Wimbish with Thunderley. She has come to us from the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, with excellent parish experience, and a passion for caring for God’s Creation, as well as interest in art history.
