Can I have my Banns read at St Clement with St Peter?
Yes of course you can.
There are legal requirements that determine whether you are, or may become, eligible to have your banns read at St Clement with St Peter. Eligibility will depend on where you live, and your citizenship status. If you live in our parish and are a UK or EU citizen then you are eligible to marry by banns. Please fill in the Banns application Form on this page and bring it St Clement with St Peter church on Sunday morning. We worship at 10am.
The 2023 Fee for the publication of banns and the certificate is £54. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or bank transfer.
Please contact us if you have any questions. We are here to help you.
Booking a wedding at St Clement with St Peter
The first thing you need to do is to book the date and time of your wedding. Bookings are taken by arrangement with the Vicar. This is also an opportunity for you to discuss with us the legal basis for your eligibility. Please email or phone us.
From then on your wedding is booked and all details will be filed under that date. Most people book their wedding about one year to six months before the date. In certain circumstances it can be done with as little time as four full weeks’ notice.
After booking your date it is normal procedure to have two meetings with the priest who will be marrying you, one about five or six months before your wedding and the next about one or two months before. After that there will be a rehearsal on one day during the week before your wedding. It is your responsibility to make sure that these meetings happen.
Planning your Service
Most couples design an Order of Service for their wedding. This should contain words of hymns and a running order of the wedding service so that your guests can be handed this by the ushers as they enter the church. The priest will help you designing your order of service.
The total running time of the service is likely to be 45-55 minutes.
You will need to consider which readings you would like to have, and whether you would like to include music.
We also have advice on things to think about when planning your wedding day, and there is more advice on weddings on the Church of England’s Your Church Wedding site.
We are here to help and to celebrate with you on your special day.
We look forward to hearing from you.
