Getting Married at St Clement with St Peter
First of all, congratulations on your engagement!
We would love to help you organise your wedding here at St Clement with St Peter. Getting married in church is a special occasion, and we would be delighted to help you plan and host your church wedding. We have a beautiful mid-century church, which is light-filled, spacious, and in excellent condition. We are set in a peaceful area of East Dulwich, surrounded by tall trees (listen out for the woodpeckers!), with well-kept gardens and parking available on-site.
The wedding vows you will take as part of your marriage service are beautiful and meaningful. We will take time and care to get to know you both, help you to understand them and work closely with you to help you to have the most wonderful and joyful wedding day.
If you are considering getting married here, the best thing to do is to contact the Vicar, Revd Gemma Lau ([email protected]). She will be happy to answer any questions you may have via email or arrange a time to speak. You are always welcome to come along to one of our 10am Sunday services, it will give you a chance to see the church, the space and Revd Gemma is normally around after the service for a chat over a cup of coffee or tea!
Can Anyone Get Married at St Clement with St Peter?
Marriage is open to anyone who lives in the parish or has a qualifying connection with this parish. Please get in touch if you would like to learn more about what it means to be "in a parish," or if you'd like to know whether you have a qualifying connection, or how to establish one.
With the Bishop's permission, we are also able to conduct marriages for those who have been married before. We are sensitive to the needs of the wider family in these instances, and we would take time to understand and support your wider family and children as they approach this new stage in their life.
Do You Hold Services of Thanksgiving for Civil Weddings or Civil Partnerships?
Yes! We would be very happy to help you organise a beautiful service to celebrate this, whether it's for a same-sex or different-sex relationship.
Can I Have My Banns Read at St Clement with St Peter if I Am Getting Married in a Different Church?
Yes, of course, if we are your parish church!
There are legal requirements that determine whether you are, or may become, eligible to have your banns read at St Clement with St Peter. Eligibility will depend on where you live and your citizenship status. If you live in our parish and are a UK or EU citizen, you are eligible to marry by banns. Please fill in the Banns Application Form on this page and bring it to St Clement with St Peter church on Sunday morning. Our services start at 10am and finish around 11am. We would love you to join us for the service, or if you prefer, come along immediately after the service finishes, to hand the form to us. Do ask to see one of the churchwardens or the vicar to hand over the form!
The 2025 fee for the publication of banns and the certificate is £56. Payment can be made by cash, cheque, or bank transfer.
