Thank you for considering St Peter ad Vincula Church for baptism.
What is Baptism?
At baptism God accepts us into his family and we become children of God and follow Jesus Christ. We make promises to God about the way we will live our lives, following the teachings and example of Jesus.
Why here, in St. Peter's Church?
Because the Christian way of life asks us to think differently about our priorities in the world in which we live, we need the support of other believers in a local church family. For this reason, baptism should occur in your local church near where you live so that it is easier to become part of that church family.
Here at St Peter's Church, we ask that those wishing to be baptised within the church, meeting either one of the following; They should live within the benefice, which includes the parishes of Coggeshall, Markshall, Cressing, Stisted, Bradwell -juxa- Coggeshall and Pattiswick; or be a regular attender at any one of the churches in those parishes.
You will be welcomed into the church at the baptism and friendship and support is ongoing. You will have access to all the church has to offer in terms of learning, support and encouragement to help you keep the promises you will make at baptism for yourselves and your children.
When does the baptism take place?
Baptisms are always part of a regular church service because they involve the whole family of God. At St. Peter's Church, baptisms are held on the third Sunday as part of the family service.
The Service starts at 11.15 am and lasts about 40 minutes. As well as the baptism of several families, you can expect stories, action songs, maybe some craft and plenty of opportunity to join in and become part of our church family.
