About Us

The church we see today was constructed in the perpendicular style in the early 15th century.

St Peter’s Church is one of the largest in Essex and is Grade 1 listed. There are two side chapels (Lady Chapel and St. Catherine’s Chapel) which are regularly used for prayer. The tower houses one of the heavier rings of bells in Essex, with the number of bells having been increased from 8 to 10 to mark the Millennium Year 2000. St. Peter’s Church Belfry is a dedicated Training Ringing Centre and is recognised by the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers for the training of new ringers and the advancement of others.

St. Peter's Church is a friendly open church, welcoming all ages to a variety of services.
