St Martin's Chipping Ongar

We should like to extend a very warm welcome to you from all of us here at St Martin's.
We hope you will find all the information you need about us on these pages, whether you are thinking of visiting us, or are already a member of our church community.

An important element in our reaching out to our local community is making the church building available each day for those who wish to visit for whatever reason. St Martin's is normally open Sunday to Friday from 9.30am to 5pm (dusk if earlier) and on Saturdays from 9.30am to 12noon.

UNFORTUNATELY due to Storm Damage to the Chancel Ceiling in November 2023 the Church is currently only open for services. But repair work starts in early November and is expected to take approximately 5 weeks and after that we will be able to open the church in daylight hours on most days of the week to visitors, pilgrims, and those who just want some peace and quiet.

Services are held on every Sunday and Wednesday. Children are  very welcome and especially to our Family orientated services on the first and third Sundays at 10.30am.

Safeguarding

Our parish of Chipping Ongar w Shelley is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO).
Our Diocese of Chelmsford’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO [Lisa Wickstead - [email protected]] or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor [http://www.chelmsford.anglican.org/safeguarding/safeguarding-contacts]. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services."
