We join together as a Parish once a month, a change to get together in a relaxed atmosphere over coffee & cake, to worship the Lord, and talk about today's teaching. We meet in turn at each of the Chigwell churches, see the attached dates and venue list.

Join us as we say Morning Prayer together each week.
Morning Prayer on 13th December will take place at the Rectory, 66 High Road.

The Church is open on Thursday morning for anyone to pop in. Have a look around, sit quietly, have a cuppa, chat to the church folk. Whatever you like, you're welcome to drop in.

Come along and hear the Christmas story, sing some Christmas carols, and enjoy mulled wine and mince pies!

What is Christingle?
Christingle is a joyful celebration that brings families and communities together to share the light of Jesus and spread a message of hope. It is especially suitable for children, but do tie back long hair because of the candles.

Christingle celebrations are named after the Christingles that are lit during the ceremony. Christingles are oranges wrapped in red tape, decorated with dried fruit or sweets, with a candle on the top.

What is the Christingle made from?
During the service, each person takes a Christingle and the candles are all lit to create a warm, magical glow symbolising the light of Christ and bringing hope to people living in darkness.

Christingles are made using oranges and a few other bits, as you choose. You light the candle at the end of a service to spread a magical glow around everyone.

Each element of a Christingle has a special meaning and helps to tell the Christian story:

The orange represents the world
The red ribbon (or tape) symbolises the love and blood of Christ
The sweets and dried fruit represent all of God’s creations
The lit candle represents Jesus’s light in the world, bringing hope to people living in darkness.
