It was the prospect of clearing the chairs in our worship space ready for our new monthly Service for young children and families called 'Bubble Church', that we finally decided to explore the possibility of having new lightweight chairs. Our old chairs had served us well for 25 years, and were not at all damaged - just too heavy! Bubble Church is held monthly on a third Sunday from 9 a.m., but we always have to replace the chairs immediately afterwards ready for the Celebration Sunday Service at 10.30 p.m. Once we had decided on design and fabric colour, it all seemed to happen pretty quickly, and now the chairs are in place. 25 chairs can be stacked at any one time and can easily be moved around on the "dolleys" to where they are needed. The great news is that a Church not too far away was in need of our 200 chairs and so they purchased them from us, and they are very happy with them.
We first tried "Stir Up" Tuesday last year, and our older adults loved stirring up the Christmas pudding mixture. This year we did it again, and the puddings will be cooked by Jennifer, one of our helpers, and then we'll eat them at our Christmas party on 17 December. We explained the meaning of Stir Up Sunday and read the prayer for the 25th Sunday after Trinity:Stir up, O Lord, the wills of your faithful people;that they, richly bearing the fruit of good works, may by you be richly rewarded;through Jesus Christwho is alive with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God now and for ever.Amen.
