Facilities and features

Accessibility

We have three toilets in the halls and one in the Church. One of the hall toilets and the Church toilet are wheelchair accessible.

We have baby changing facilities in the Church and the hall toilets

We have a bike rack outside the atrium entrance.

We have 30+ car parking spaces for visitors to church and halls. Please note we have ANPR, and visitors need to register their vehicle on one of the tablets in either the atrium or Church coffee shop when you visit. However, there is no need to register for Sunday morning Services between 7 a.m. - 2 p.m. For weddings, funerals, large Services and events we arrange a "white out" for all vehicles so there is no need to register your vehicle. If you hire the halls please ask the Church office for a "white out" to cover the time of your event.

Accessible Toilet in Church and halls

We have a telephone in the Church office which could be used by the public if needed.

We have helpers who are familiar with the needs of children with autism.

We have two disabled parking spaces at the front of the Church

A defibrillator has recently been installed outside the Church under the canopy to the right of the entrance. It is accessible 24/7.

We have a ramped entrance to the main Church and to the halls

We have an Induction Loop system in the Church.

We have large print bibles available.

We are happy to welcome assistance dogs.

Our buildings have been assessed as dementia friendly.

We have gluten free refreshments always available.

We have ramps to the halls and Church for wheelchairs. We also have double doors which can be fully opened if need be. Sidespersons are available to advise where wheelchair and mobility scooter users can be easily located in the Church. Seating is left available next to these locations so that carers can be seated. We also have a wheelchair available in the Church.


Our Building

The Church is open from 8.45 a.m. - 12.15 p.m. Monday - Thursday for private prayer. It is also open in term-time on a Friday at these times.

We have a warm space event for older adults on a Tuesday from 10.30 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Music and Worship

We have an organ which is over 100 years old.

We do not use BCP.

We currently have 3 worship bands.


Groups, Courses and Activities

Youth Group has not been held since before Covid. We hope to restore it as soon as we have enough helpers.

Team Lent Course commences at St John the Divine, Outwood Common on 22 February 2024 at 7.30 p.m.

3rd Billericay Scouts (with Beavers) meet in our halls every week.

We have several bible study groups.

Brownies
Christianity Explored course

We have a Coffee Shop which is open three mornings a week in term time.

We hold events for the community such as a Jubilee party, Quiz nights, concerts etc.

Cubs meet in our halls.

We have an exercise group for older ladies on a Wednesday morning.

Guides

We have a 'Summer Holiday at Home' for older adults every August.

Messy Church meets on the first Sunday of the month in the Church hall at 10 a.m.

We have an active Mothers' Union in Billericay. Rev Margaret Fowler is the Deanery Chaplain to MU.

"Anna's Place" for older adults. Activities, singing, refreshments and lunch. We also invite those with dementia and their carers to come along. We have two trained Anna Chaplains and two trained Anna Friends.

We have a Toddler Group on a Friday morning.

The Billericay Twins Club meets on a Monday morning.

Pilgrim course
Rainbows

We support a refugee family by renting them a clergy house which is owned by the parish. We have been doing this for 7 years.

Scouts meet in our halls.

We have Street Pastors in our town and a member of our congregation is a Football Pastors. There are also Schools Pastors in the parish.


Help for Visitors

Free wifi is available in the Church and halls.

Cornerstone Coffee Shop open 8.45 am - 12 noon weekdays during term-time. Coffee/tea/speciality tea/ hot chocolate/soft drinks/home made cakes/toasted tea cakes/crumpets/biscuits etc

8.45 a.m. - 12.15 p.m. Mon - Thur. Open same times on a Friday morning in term-time only.

We welcome those who want to bring their well-behaved dogs to Services and to older adult events.


Other Features

We use fair trade coffee and tea for our refreshments.

We collect items for our local food bank.

We have a large screen in Church which is used for showing videos, liturgy, prayers, bible readings. We also live-screen our Services.

We have a large and a small hall for hire.
