The Trust runs the Ride & Stride (on bikes or walking) on the second Saturday of September each year to raise money for both the Trust and for participating churches, with half the money raised going to each. Raising money is ever more important as repairs to churches rather came to a halt during the pandemic but the need has not gone away.
It is open to everyone to take part, whether church-goers or not, bikers, hikers and other visitors, whether by car, mobility scooter or horse.
Our riders and striders will need sponsorship for their efforts and we have already identified that Jan and David Williams are going to take part. If you would like to sponsor them you can either:
Send a cheque to the parish office with your name and if you can add GiftAid
Make a donation to the trust by going to the website (www.surreychurchespreservationtrust.org), clicking the ‘Make a Donation’ button and following the Just Giving instructions. But make sure you add your name and church in the Message box at the end

St Matthew's Parish Church, Croydon

Park Hill is a popular location for young professionals, families and older citizens alike.

We at St Matthew’s are an inclusive people embracing the joys and challenges of being human with all our differences of race, gender, sexuality and social background. We are a part of Inclusive Church and fully support the IC Statement.

Our mission is to reach out and share God’s unconditional love for the world with all people of our parish and with the wider community.

As Desmond Tutu once said: “Christ, when he was lifted up did not say ‘I draw some people to myself’. He said ‘I draw all, All, ALL’.

Come just as you are.

Every Sunday at 8.30am we have a said service of Holy Communion.

Every Sunday at 10.00am we have a sung service of Holy Communion.

Our 10am Sunday services (and other occasional events as advertised) are live streamed and can be viewed below or on our YouTube channel.

On Wednesdays at 10.00am there will be a service of Holy Communion in church.

St Matthew’s offers Prayers of Love and Faith (https://www.churchofengland.org/prayer-and-worship/worship-texts-and-resources/prayers-love-and-faith) for same sex couples. At present these will take place within regular services. For further information please do get in touch with our vicar Rev Ruth [email protected]

The birth of a child can be celebrated with a Service of Thanksgiving or Baptism (Christening).

Anyone who lives in the parish can be married at St Matthew’s, or can have a civil marriage blessed. At the moment we are unable to offer services of blessing for same-sex marriages, but we hope to be able to do so in the future.

Funerals or Memorial services can help us cope with loss and grief.

For further information, please contact our Parish Administrator, Penny Goswell, on 020 8681 3147 during office hours, Monday to Friday 9.00am to 12noon who will put you in contact with the relevant member of our team.
