Christmas is over and the jollity has faded somewhat – the nights are long and the days short and cold and spring (let alone summer) is a dot in the distant future – what is one to do to lift the mood?

Well…

At Thorpe Market Church we want to invite you to our Snowdrop Sundays – this year on the 2nd, 9th, 16th & 23rd February between 12 & 4pm. There is ample parking and you are sure of a welcome in the warm church by our wonderful volunteers. There will be an art exhibition by different artists on each weekend as well as the chance to browse the second-hand books and relax with friends over hot drinks and our famed home-made cakes before (or after or both!) a gentle walk around the churchyard to see our annual display of nature’s early flowering – the snowdrops.

Our artists this year, who are showing on both the Saturday and Sunday of the snowdrop weekends, are:

Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd February - Julie Brooks and Idris Walters will be exhibiting a selection of artworks 11am – 4pm showcasing a range of styles combining observation and imagination, with inspiration drawn from the ever-changing colours and moods of the landscapes and seascapes of North Norfolk and beyond. There will be paintings, pastels, prints and cards for sale.

Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th February - Amanda Springall-Rogers will be showing alongside two other painters and a textile artist. Amanda’s work reflects the beauty, wonder and detail of the natural world.

Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th February – Rosalie Osborne-Gibb exhibits regularly at St Margaret’s and we are pleased to welcome her once again. With her love and inspiration of coast and countryside, from surf and sunsets to wildlife and landscapes, she will be showing the many aspects of her art in a bright and colourful exhibition. Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd February – East Coast Artz a group of local artists, who have regular exhibitions at the church, will be showing a diverse range of paintings, prints, cards, textiles, crafts and driftwood sculptures, often inspired by the local environment.

David Wright will also have some of his amazing wire sculptures on show, some in place within the churchyard.

There will also be musical interludes from Alan Morris on the church’s Norwich organ and maybe the odd guest singer.
