Accessibility
We have five toilets in our ancient building, including a fully accessible toilet with a baby changing station.
There is a disabled toilet and baby changing facilities.
We have bike racks next to the church.
We have parking in front of the Welcome Centre (our church hall, which is located just across the churchyard from the church) which is managed by JustPark. Please click the 'Finding Us' tab on our website for more details, as well as how to reach us via public transport (stmaryswalthamstow.org).
Our Building
St Mary's is open every weekday morning at 8.30am for Morning Prayer. The church is open Monday-Friday, 8.30am-4pm for private prayer or to light a candle, as well as on Saturdays from 9am-4pm.
St Mary’s Walthamstow reopened in December 2022 after a major restoration by Matthew Lloyd Architects – a project supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. In addition to being a working church, our Grade II* building is now a beautiful heritage venue for concerts, performances, retreats, meetings, filming, and school and community events. Fully equipped for sound and AV, and with a renowned acoustic, the main space can also be used for recording. Our smaller vestry rooms are ideal for meetings, away days and workshops. With views over the tranquil and beautiful churchyards, the church offers a peaceful retreat just minutes from Walthamstow Central. Groups, Courses and Activities
Our youth group meets fortnightly
We partner with other local churches to help run the Forest Churches Emergency Night Shelter in the winter and early spring months.
Help for Visitors
Serving coffee and pastries as well as light lunches, Ruttle & Rowe are our cafe partners and are open Monday-Friday, 8.30am-4pm, and Saturday, 9am-4pm. With both indoor and outdoor seating and brilliant coffee, our cafe offers a unique and relaxed setting in Walthamstow's ancient church.
