We are really looking forward to celebrating Christmas with you and everyone is welcome to attend services - see the calendar for individual churches for more details. In line with the government legislation for shops and public transport we are asking all those of you who are not exempt for any reason to please wear a mask for services and events in the Abbey. There is no legislation covering this at present and we hope that there wont need to be but we do hope that you will consider others by taking this step. You may want to be aware that the clergy continue to take lateral flow tests to prepare for conducting weekly services. We will have masks available for anyone who forgets!
The Air Crash Memorial Service which will take place on Sunday 4th July 2021 10.30am at Dorchester Abbey and shown live online via a Zoom linkThis decision has been made because it seems very likely that some Covid restrictions will remain in place after June 21st, including social distancing, and the Abbey offers considerably more space for a congregation that St Lawrence Church in Toot Baldon. Even so, the Abbey only has a capacity for 100 people sat at a social distance. Therefore if you would like to attend in person please contact me (revteresa@outlook.com) to request a seat.If we are not able to accommodate everyone in the Abbey we will try to make sure that every organisation has a fair representation in the Abbey. The Zoom link is below and the order of service attached.Join Zoom Meetinghttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/89085596596?pwd=ZGgrUnVKcUVQbXkwckM2ci95MmxUQT09Meeting ID: 890 8559 6596Passcode: AirCrashI am delighted to announce that the Venerable Jonathan Chaffey CB, the Archdeacon of Oxford, will be our preacher at the service. Jonathan formally served as the Chaplain-in-Chief and head of the RAF Chaplains Branch. I am sure that like me, you will be disappointed that we are not able to hold this memorial service in the usual way, but I hope you understand the reasons for the precautions we are taking and that you will look forward to next year’s service with even more enthusiasm.I look forward to seeing you all again in July, either in person or online.
