Thomas Hardy is the greatest witness to Victorian rural life in English Literature. His multiple novels reinforce themes of Class, Money, and the frustrations and despair of romantic life, particularly in the role of women in a male driven society.
We will explore some of those themes and the talk will be punctuated by readings from rare first editions of his novels.
