About Us

St Mary & St George is a growing community church serving the Sands and Castlefield areas of High Wycombe.

Our vision to to 'Make Christ's Presence Known in our Community' through Encountering God, Being Love Family and Sharing Jesus.

We are a diverse family of different ages and backgrounds, united in seeking to follow Jesus and see lives changed by the power of His Spirit.  Whether you’ve been around churches before or whether the whole thing is completely new to you, you are really welcome to come and join us.

St Mary & St George Church building was completed in 1938 to serve the growing population on the western side of High Wycombe. The building was designed by Wellesley and Wills (Lord Wellesley later became the 7th Duke of Wellington) and is a striking example of inter-war church architecture with its free Byzantine style and iconic copper dome roof.

In early 2019, the parish church entered a new and exciting season of life as it welcomed a team from St Andrews, Hatters Lane to join the community and help to strengthen and revitalise the church’s mission and ministry. We have now has a varied style of worship from the more traditional through to the very contemporary and informal and, in partnership with others, has developed a wide range of outreach and discipleship ministries. 

During the week we run several different 'Missional Communities' which each have a different focus.  We have a particular ministry to children and families, through our Sunday SMG Kids, Saturday 'Big Green Dome Stay and Play' and various other midweek gatherings.
