Christingle is a Moravian tradition, named after the Christingles that are lit during the ceremony. Christingles are oranges wrapped in red tape, decorated with dried fruit or sweets, with a candle on the top. During the service, each person takes a Christingle, and the candles are all lit to create a warm, magical glow symbolising the light of Christ and bringing hope to people living in darkness.
Our service is in two parts, starting with a Nativity and Christingle-makes session, followed by a short family-friendly carol service, during which the meaning of the Christingle oranges is explained, and the Christingles are lit and blessed.

St Thomas

St Thomas aims to be a hub for its neighbourhood: a place where people can come together, learn, find support, build community, have fun, and where those of all faiths and none can feel welcome. We have plenty of space at our church, indoors and outdoors. We want that space to be used by local people, especially for projects and events that serve the common good or help the most disadvantaged and excluded.

If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO Ali Edney (email: [email protected], tel: 07973219495) or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor Pamela Chisholm (email: [email protected], tel:020 7939 9423 or 07982 279713).
