Church Building. At the AGM of the Church held on 21st April the plans for the re-tiling of the Nave roof and internal changes were explained. The object is to make sure this 170-year-old building is around for generations to come as a community hub as well as a place of worship. The first phase to re-tile the roof will cost £190,000 for which £120,000 has been raised through bequests, donations and funding. Thus, a further £70,000 is being sought through grants and donations. Leaflets are available just inside the door of the church (open daily 9am to 4pm) setting out the plan, an appeal for donations and how to donate. Donations to preserve this focal point of our small village requested.
Foodbank donations to Community Matters Lane End and One Can Trust High Wycombe and are collected from the Church every Friday at approx 10.00am. In May the collections for Lane End are on the 6th and 20th with One Can High Wycombe on the other Fridays. Both have similar “Wants” and Lane End, after our last delivery thanked for the good selection of items donated. However, they said Household Items are very much needed (laundry capsules/ powder, washing up liquid, shower gel, toilet rolls kitchen rolls, shampoo, fabric conditioner, cleaning products). On food items extra “wants” are sugar free squash and cereals that children would like. Utility prices are hitting hard with one family sitting at home for 2 days with no electricity until money came in. They were offered help.
