Running St Nicholas requires a minimum of £1,750 a month. This is to cover such expenses as insurance, electricity, general maintenance and ministerial costs. St Nicholas has been very well maintained over the years through support from visitors, the village and congregation alike. The community drove a fundraising campaign to sympathetically install a servery and loo at the west end of the church in 2015. This has strengthened the church building’s position at the centre of the village, hosting many events. However, caring for the church constantly incurs costs; for instance, the aggregate cost of recent overdue internal and external repainting and repair works was c£16,000.
