Royal Opera House: Songs for Ukraine Chorus

Occuring
for 1 hour
Venue
Bradford Cathedral
Address
Stott Hill Bradford, BD1 4EH, United Kingdom

Bradford Cathedral and The Royal Opera House present 'Songs for Ukraine Chorus' performing Christmas Songs as the beginning of the Royal Opera House's contribution to Bradford City of Culture 2025.

Against the backdrop of the terrible war in Ukraine, the Royal Opera House set up ROH Songs for Ukraine Chorus, bringing together displaced Ukrainians to sing with the Royal Opera Chorus. The first performance at the Royal Opera House in March was a creative exchange, singing Ukrainian liturgical and folk repertoire and opera choruses and received great acclaim, both from the audience and international press. We are now proud to present this Chorus for their first performance outside London in Bradford in preparation for City of Culture. Set in the beautiful surroundings of Bradford Cathedral, ROH Songs for Ukraine Chorus will perform songs from Ukraine’s rich Christmas tradition, with some well known and lesser known Carols. They will be joined by our own Grace Notes choir and singers from Bradford’s own Ukrainian community. Come and celebrate Christmas with us in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and show how the collective act of singing can inspire hope.

Bradford's beautiful Cathedral is a hidden jewel waiting to be discovered. Set in tranquil gardens the Cathedral is alive with a sense of story from its thirteen centuries at the heart of the city.

This, the third church on the site, is over 500 years old, with twentieth century additions. Bradford's most ancient place of worship is friendly, peaceful and fascinating, with many special features.

We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs.
