Launched during Bike Week 2021, the Cathedrals Cycle Route is an almost 2,000 mile route that travels between all 42 English Church of England cathedrals. The annual relay - where riders can take part in individual legs of the route - returns in 2025, and will start at Bradford Cathedral as Bradford celebrates being the UK City of Culture.

The launch event will be held here on Saturday 24th May at 10:30am, with live music, speeches and special guests, before we head off on a cycle (at around 11:30am) to Wakefield Cathedral via Dewsbury Minster.

Booking will open soon but e-mail [email protected] to express your interest.

The ride is a total of around 20 miles. The distance to Dewsbury Minster is around 12 miles with an additional 8 miles to Wakefield Cathedral. Participants in the ride are welcome to cycle some or all of it, and can return back to the start by train from either Dewsbury or Wakefield. We expect riders will leave in waves depending on their availability.

The cut off time for arrival at Wakefield Cathedral (for refreshments and welcome) will be around 3:30pm, when their evening prayer begins.

You can find out more about the Cathedrals Cycle Route on the Cycling UK website.

Bradford Cathedral

Bradford's beautiful Cathedral is a hidden jewel waiting to be discovered. Set in tranquil gardens the Cathedral is alive with a sense of story from its thirteen centuries at the heart of the city.

This, the third church on the site, is over 500 years old, with twentieth century additions. Bradford's most ancient place of worship is friendly, peaceful and fascinating, with many special features.

The parish of Cathedral Church of St. Peter Bradford is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Leeds’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
