“I'm originally from Sheffield and I went to King Edward VII School where there was a fantastic music department, and they just really got me into singing, and I've loved it ever since. If you'd asked me when I was six what I wanted to be when I was a grown up, I’d have said a singer.

“I started off singing in folk clubs and pubs with my parents and then choral music became my love. I’ve come to Bradford via Sheffield Cathedral; Gonville & Caius College; and Ely, Lichfield, Manchester and Blackburn Cathedrals

“I studied composition in Birmingham and then studied singing at the Royal Northern College of Music, so it's been a long interesting route, and I'm very excited to start my role at Bradford Cathedral.

“In terms of my role here, I have some responsibilities to coach the volunteer singers and the younger singers in the choir, which I'm really, really enjoying. It's kind of a new horizon for me, on top of the singing, which I've always enjoyed doing.”

We moved on to ask Robin what they hoped to get out of their time in Bradford.

“There's an amazing sense of community here and I really enjoy making music, in a community where there's a meaning to what we do, and so I'm looking forward to getting stuck in with that.”

Finally, we asked them for a message for the congregation.

“You are absolutely welcome to say hello to me anytime. I really like chatting to people and I really like this strange and lovely thing that we do. It's nice to be able to talk with other people that enjoy it so please say hello!”
