Arriving at the Cathedral at just before 9am they got a chance to speak to the Revd Pete Gunstone about the building and hear some of the organ, played by visiting organist Dr Ed Jones. They also had a brief introduction to the building from keen cyclist and EcoGroup member Mike de Villiers, who then joined them on the ride.
The 25-mile cycle trip then took them onto Leeds Road, to visit two Sikh Gurdwaras, a Hindu temple, and the Abu Bakar Masjid, before heading out on the City Superhighway 1 towards Leeds for lunch at the next Gurdwara.
A representative of the Bolton Road Community Cycling Club said of the ride:
"It's a wonderful opportunity to pay our respects while promoting inclusivity among all races and religions through cycling. [It's] a meaningful day of cycling as we connect communities and explore places of worship of different faiths."
