Our Identity
Durham Cathedral is a Christian Church of the Anglican Communion, the shrine of St Cuthbert and the seat of the Bishop of Durham. It is a centre of prayer, pilgrimage and presence in North East England.
Our Mission
At Durham Cathedral we welcome all who come, engage with the people of the Diocese and celebrate and pass on our rich Christian Heritage. In all these relationships our purpose is to worship God, share the gospel of Jesus Christ and discover our place in God’s creation.
Our Life Today
At Durham Cathedral we have identified six areas of life that we experience as threads in a rope which, as they interweave, touch and support each other to give the Cathedral strength and character.
