On Monday 2nd June All Saints Church hosted Archdeacon Claire's visitation for our deanery and the neighbouring one of Guthlaxton.
On a warm pleasant spring evening with our bells resounding merrily over 110 people were welcomed to the church.
Uplifting and rousing music and singing added to the sense of occasion.
A talk from Archdeacon Claire, delivered with her customary warmth, spoke encouragingly of the role, value and importance of churchwardens to their churches and incumbents.
The formal part of the service was succinct and then all affirmed churchwardens were enthusiastically applauded.
Our minister Rev. Jo delivered the intercessions before 'Lord for the years' closed proceedings.
Refreshments, including many delicious cakes, and lovely conversations in the church hall rounded off a heart-warming evening.
Jill, one the newly re-elected churchwardens in our Benefice thanked everyone involved in the Archdeacon's visitation including musicians, those reading the bible readings, sides-people, flower arrangers, those providing cakes from St Helens and All Saints, those serving refreshments, bell ringers, car park attendants and all those who were involved in preparing the hall and church including setting up and clearing away afterwards.
Our thanks also go to Mr Crick, All Saints School and Vic Howell, Sapcote Community Library for allowing us to use their car parks.
The Archdeacon's PA Wendy also asked us to pass on her thanks for the warm welcome and said the Archdeacon's Discretionary Fund collection was blessed too.
