All Saints Church, Isley Walton and Langley
Welcome to All Saints, Isley Walton cum Langley
So hard to find, but immensely rewarding, this small church sits at the bottom of the Manor House garden in the delightful hamlet of Isley Walton.
The Church was rebuilt in 1720 on the site of the original 12th Century Knights Templar chapel and still retains the original bells, one 14th Century and the other dated later, in 1405.
In 1629 the Church and the whole village passed into the hands of the Worshipful Company of Bowyers, whose coat of arms can be seen on many of the houses in the village.
Following further rebuilding in 1819 , it became part of the Donington Estate in 1890 and in 1934 was completely re-furnished with pews and pulpit made from ancient Donington Oak.
At a maximum, the church only seats 50 people, but is still warm and welcoming however small the congregation. Services are held at 6pm on the second Sunday of the month, for which the gates are open and all are welcome to use the drive opposite the Toll House, in the grounds of Walton House.
It is a short walk from there to the church.
