About Us
Developing a thriving Christian Community in Apperley Bridge and Greengates
St John's is a friendly, growing church serving the communities of Apperley Bridge and Greengates, on the northern edge of the city of Bradford.
We meet every Sunday at 4pm in the Church Hall. Our gatherings last about an hour and focus on a particular theme of the Bible, with songs, video clips and short talks that get us thinking about God and our own lives. Afterwards we take time to chat with each other over refreshments.
As well as this, we have a small mid-week communion service at 9:30am on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. Sunday Morning Communion services are held to mark significant days in the church calendar.
Everyone is welcome to join us for any of our services - whether you are a regular church-goer or someone who has never set foot inside church before in your life! If you do come along and decide you'd like to find out a bit more about this God stuff, someone's always happy to have an excuse to go for a Costa and talk some more, and we run a great 'Christian basics' course yearly. This is always a really enjoyable experience, as a group of likeminded people get together over coffee and cake, talk through some of the 'BIG' questions that we often forget to think about, and just have a good time together.
As we emerge from Covid, the Church Hall is increasingly being used for a range of community activities during the week, including Cubs, Scouts, Brownies, Over 50's, and a local history group.
