This is a church that is about 800 years old. The first rector was appointed in 1209. It is a grade 1 listed building. It is the Parish church of the benefice. It contains some fine stained glass, some first rate carved choir stalls and pulpit. The carving was undertaken by parishioners at the beginning of the 20th Century as part of a night-school class. We are a very welcoming congregation. Do come and give us an opportunity to welcome you into our fellowship.
The parish of Barwell: St Mary is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Leicester’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services."
