Leicester University was founded in 1921 as a result of generous giving by families of Leicester and Leicestershire to commemorate the fallen in WW1. On November the 9th 2021 wreaths were laid at the memorial inside St Mary's Church by the university on its centenary. Pochin School children laid two hand made wreaths in remembrance. Silence was kept and prayers led by Rev Biddy Saunders. The Kohima Epitaph was spoken by Colonel R M L Colville TD DL JP, Vice Lord-Lieutenant, Leicestershire
