Westfield Church Community Drop In On Wednesday mornings from 10.30am to noon in St John’s everyone is welcome to drop in for refreshments and a chat. Joanna the Deputy Clerk to the Parish Council and Sandi have the kettle on and the coffee maker at the ready to give you a warm welcome (and yes, the heating is on too so it is actually warm!). Joanna is great to talk to as she knows what’s going on in the village that the Parish Council are involved in. We hope also to create a Village Pantry where people who cannot access food banks in Hastings, because of transport difficulties, can collect groceries during the Drop In. The first couple of weeks have been good fun and we look forward to word getting around the village that this is a good opportunity to get out and meet especially as we are missing lovely Taris’. We won’t be open on Wednesday 15th February because of holidays but will be back again the following week on Wednesday 22nd Feb. We’re looking forward to seeing you soon, Sandi and Joanna.

As well as our wildlife area we have left some areas around ancient graves to grow during May, June and July. We have cut paths around and through them so that we can get close up to the flowers and the insects. A record of the flowers can be found on our website. We also have lots of different grasses which were identified recently giving us 16 different species of grass. Our grasses are the foodplant of several Butterflies so are vitally important. We will be cutting down these areas from August onwards to make way for our mushrooms especially the Waxcaps.Westfield Church Hastings | Wild Flowers in the Churchyard
