Dear FriendsI wanted to write and let you know that sadly, the Churchwardens (of both Chidham and Funtington Benefices) and I have agreed to close the following churches during the current National lockdown:· St Wilfrid’s, Chidham· St Mary’s, Sennicott· St Andrew’s, West StokeIt was felt that we could not safely open the churches and maintain the restrictions of social distancing safely. These churches can be used for funerals if there is a requirement for them to be used.I know that this will come as a huge disappointment for many who’s regular place of worship are one of the churches we have closed - but pleased be assured that I will ensure that as soon as the National Lockdown lifting is announced I will review each church again with the Churchwardens and let you know when, and if, the church will re-open.The church of St Mary, Chidham will continue to hold a weekly service at 9.30am each Sunday. The church of St Mary, Funtington will continue to hold a weekly service at 10.00am each Sunday.I am, this week, looking at my diary and trying to work out service times to the end of April to try and ensure we have the right cover and support going forward. I will also be having regular ‘zoom’ coffee mornings and the services I take will be, (technology permitting) be filmed and/or livestreamed so that people can still join the services from the comfort of their own home. All of these details can be found initially on The Website called ‘A Church Near You’.This is the link for Chidham: https://www.achurchnearyou.com/church/4843/benefice/This is the link for Funtington, West Stoke and Sennicotts:https://www.achurchnearyou.com/church/4932/benefice/Please be assured of my prayers as we continue to battle with this awful virus.
