Why be married in Church?
A marriage service, wherever it is held, is a public declaration of love and commitment to your partner. If you choose to get married in church, there is an added dimension - the assurance that God cares about your relationship and that his resources and strength are available to help you.
So can you be married at one of our Churches?
We will do everything we can to enable you to do so.
Here’s how it works:
You have a legal right to marry in the Church of England parish church where you or your fiancé(e) lives.
If at least one of you hasn’t lived in one of the 3 Parishes of the Benefice (Aston Clinton, Buckland or Drayton Beauchamp) for at least six months, you will need to demonstrate a connection with the Church where you wish to be married. That means that at least one of the following applies to at least one of you :
was baptised at the Church
has attended worship in the Church for at least six months
has a parent or a grandparent who has a connection with the Parish
Even if you can’t demonstrate any of the connections above, we’ll help you explore whether it is possible for you to be married here so please contact us on 01296 632488 or email to [email protected]
What will it cost?
For 2023 the fee is £625.00, which includes the Minister, Church Service, lighting, heating and administration.
Optional extras are a Church Organist, Verger, Reading of Banns and Bells, of which the Church can confirm costs.
