Since St Nicholas was opened every day (including all Bank Holidays) in May 2016 it has become a popular destination for tourists and locals. Once the outside was repainted work started on the inside in September 2016. The floor was sanded, the walls painted, the panelling and chairs cleaned and waxed, the cracked windows repaired, the old fluorescent lights replaced and the vestry opened to allow space for books, photos and tea and coffee. There are cards donated by local artists for sale, and sometimes Christmas decorations made from the shells on the beach and a prayer tree. The little church is bright and welcoming. In the summer months on a Sunday morning the Pett Level independent Rescue Boat next door are out practicing and there is a bric-a-brac stall by the church. This is definitely a destination with the beach just 30 yards away for a walk along the sea wall.
