A great afternoon of fierce competition through a wide range of games from the classics, scrabble and shove ha'penny to the stranger games such as Quirkle and Pandemonium. No generation seemed to win the night, quick thinking and experience were finely balanced. Why not come along next time, Sunday 17th March, 4pm.
The race is on to raise the funding for our new access project and so Hattie (7) lead the way by suggesting that the children organise a sponsored sleepover in the church. We had eight children aged 4-13 gathered to spend the night sleeping on the floor in the church. The chairs were moved aside as we all made up our beds for the night. It was great to use the church audio visual for our own private cinema style viewing before we went to sleep. There was lots of sleeping- against all the odds one might have said- and they didn't wake the vicar until after 7am, so it was a nice quiet start to the day.Amazingly the children did very well and raised over £400 for their sleep out- there was even talk of making it an annual event.
We had a wonderful evening dancing away at our recent barn dance. The music was provided by Hilltop Ceilidh and they were fantastic. The food was provided by Dan Chartier and the proof of that was in the empty plates, marvellous. People of all ages and all abilities joined in the dancing, it might have taken a bit of time to master stripping the willow but everyone got there in the end or had a great time trying. It was great to try our having a proper bar for the event, a definite plus and one to remember for next time. Thanks to everyone who joined and helped out, a truly great way to celebrate our community.
A great time was had by all as we gathered in the hall for our quiz night with fish and chips. The fish and chips were particularly good, the questions were a great balance of 'easy', 'I'm sure I know this one' and 'ooh I have no idea!' There was, of course, the great injustice of the team who misheard the instructions and were therefore robbed of their points. Everyone contributed points to their winning team from the youngest aged 3 and the oldest aged 90+. Family enjoying our community and having a good time.Best of all we raised £150 for Tearfund and their work in the poorest communities tackling the impact of climate change.
