Silent Prayer Together - http://www.stmarydehaura.org.uk/church-life/julian-meetings/

Contemplative prayer has been part of the Christian tradition since earliest times. In the medieval period it became mostly associated with monasticism, but in the 20th century it was reclaimed as a normal part of many people’s spiritual journey. The Julian Meetings is a network of groups to foster contemplative prayer in the Christian tradition. In contemplation we just ‘are’ before God with the four ‘S’s: Stillness, Silence, Simplicity, Surrender.

Come along to meet the band at St Mary's main door, just before 7.30pm (although there is no ringing in Holy Week).

Bell's are rung before the 10am Sunday service, on special personal occasions (such as weddings & baptisms) and, of course, on national moments such as Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee & King Charles' recent Coronation. The band at St Mary's is a lovely group; a mix of men & women, and is not limited to those that worship at St Mary's. Access to the Ringing Room is via a stone, spiral-staircase in the church tower.

All worship is as a family, even if perhaps it is via an online service or across the different venues. However, there is are special services where we can all be together and worship from within the same space.
Our youngest are eager to get involved and often help with the reading & the discussion after it; they often lead our prayers a little later in the service.
Even if you or you're young one isn't Baptised, please do feel free to approach and receive a Blessing or if you prefer use the moments of the Eucharist to stay seated and reflect or pray that is fine too. Quite often our choir will be singing and they sing beautifully, so simply rest in the moment and listen.

Learn about it all https://www.wwdp.org.uk/
World Day of Prayer is an international, ecumenical organisation which enables us to hear the thoughts of women from all parts of the world: their hopes, concerns and prayers. Each World Day of Prayer worship service has a special annual theme which is developed by women of a different country each year - this year it has been taken up by the Cook Islands. A national committee then prepares an order of service on that theme.

So, our sisters in The Cook Islands welcome us and lead us, Christians living in and around Shoreham by Sea, for the Day of Prayer 2025. This group of 15 islands in the South Pacific Ocean has a rich and colourful Māori heritage and a deep connection to nature. Join with us as we pray together and reflect on the theme ‘I made you wonderful’.

St Mary de Haura is hosting this year's worship, but the service moves amongst each Shoreham church, year by year.

Every year St Mary’s Church holds a Christmas Tree Festival supported by Shoreham’s business, schools and community groups who sponsor and decorate Christmas Trees throughout the Church. It is a much loved part of Shoreham’s Christmas celebrations.

This year we have some brilliant supporters, and our beautiful Norman church will have a magical atmosphere filled with real Christmas trees. You will be entertained by choirs, carol singers and musicians during the weekend. Acoustics are wonderful so take some time to sit and enjoy the entertainment. On Friday evening, the church will be candlelit with Gathering Light singing and mulled wine for sale.
