St. Mary`s
Welcome to the Church Of England parish of Littlehampton, St. Mary and St. James. Thank you for visiting these pages which act as our main parish website.
For over 900 years Christian worship has been offered on the site of the parish church of St. Mary the Virgin. St. James` church has a rather shorter history and, as is described elsewhere on these pages, was closed for public worship in January 2018 before subsequently being redesignated a Chapel of Ease within the newly formed parish in March 2020.
The parish is committed to traditional Christian teaching and worship and to the service of the community in which we are set. We are a member parish of Forward In Faith affiliated to `The Society under the Patronage of St. Wilfred and St. Hilda` (SSWSH). We are part of the Deanery of Arundel and Bognor within the Archdeaconry of Chichester and the Diocese of Chichester
In the words of Jesus to two of the followers of John the Baptist (John1.39) and the disciple Philip to Nathanael (John 1.46) we invite you to `Come and See`.
Join with us as we follow in the footsteps of our forebears building on the firm foundations of the past and looking with hope towards the future by living faithfully in the present. Seeking, in the words of St. Richard of Chichester, to Know, Love and Follow Jesus.
As we incorporate more content onto these pages we hope that you will find any information you require. If not please do get in touch via the `Get in Touch` tab on the main menu. You are always welcome too to join us for worship on Sunday or during the week and our Vicar Father Mark Williams together with all the congregation look forward to welcoming you.
You will find our weekly Pewsheet with details of services, events and parish news by clicking on the `News and Notices` tab on the main menu of this site.
