St Barnabas Hove - Statement on the Coronavirus
Suspension of Public Worship
“The Church is changing”
Dear Friends,
It is with much sadness, and following the latest advice from the Archbishops and the Government that the parish will be suspending all public acts of public worship from today 18/03/2020.
What does this mean for our parish?
1. Morning, evening prayer and Mass will still be celebrated daily.
Unfortunately this will be done in private for the time being. We encourage people to join us in prayer from their homes and to make an act of spiritual communion using material provided.
2. The church will be open daily
To everyone for private prayer and the lighting of candles between 12noon – 2pm daily,
with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament between 12.30-1.30pm. If you are willing to church sit during these times please be in touch.
3. The parish will maintain regular contact with parishioners via a weekly bulletin.
Please contact us if you wish to receive this on the email address below.
4. Anyone requiring pastoral or practical support or knowing of someone in need should contact us.
5. If you are able to volunteer to help someone who is self isolating by collecting shopping or prescriptions please let us know.
6. The parish are currently exploring how we might live stream some services; please check social media for updates.
It is important not to panic, to still support local businesses, and to place our trust in Jesus Christ, the eternal healer. We commend to your prayers all those suffering from the virus and those who are working to combat it. Love God, love your neighbours, and help those most needy around you.
With our prayers and best wishes,
Fr John Eldridge
