What happened on Maundy Thursday and why is it important?
This day commemorates Jesus's last supper with his disciples. During that meal in the upper room, Jesus washed his disciples' feet and gave them a new commandment: “Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another” (John 13:34). The word “Maundy” comes from the Latin mandatum, meaning “command.”

A warm welcome to the Parish Church of St. Laurence, Guestling where people have been worshipping God since Saxon times.

We are a traditional Anglican parish and we have the great privilege of meeting together for worship in a fine mediaeval building set in a beautiful corner of East Sussex.

We meet with God in prayer, in reading the Bible and in Holy Communion.

We'd love you to come along and share that experience with us, and we'd be pleased to welcome you.
