I saw you!

Dear All,

Greetings for an almost summer weekend!
We are about to enter event season both locally and nationally for the summer, so despite the weather still not quite playing ball, we will be very British about it all and as we proved at May teas, the show will go on!

The above quote brings to mind, one of my favourite episodes in The Chosen, season 4 is just being aired so I am dosing up on it again and do recommend it to all who are interested in seeing the story of Jesus and his disciples played out. https://watch.thechosen.tv/

Nathanial was under a fig tree, in The Chosen they have created a back story as to why he might have been there, and he is very distraught, but when he meets Jesus and he says- I saw you under the fig tree- he knows he is talking to someone special. I like to remember in times of distress, sadness, loneliness and even despair, that Jesus does see you under the fig tree and is there to help you to get up and keep going. Ask him.

This weekend, we have Revd Graham joining us for our 8.45am and 10 am Communion Services. Thank you again Graham for all your steering support. We are in the church year after Trinity and this goes on all summer and up to Harvest as the next church celebration occasion. So this gives us many weeks to look back on Harvest, Christmas, Easter, Ascension, Pentecost and more and also deeper into the bible teachings and what we can do as Christians to help, support and encourage our fellow man.

This Saturday afternoon, we have the wedding of Joseph and Katy @ WSL. We wish them many blessings and happiness for their special day and life together afterwards. Thank you as ever to David with his team, for making the church and grounds look so smart and overseeing the occasion.

On Monday night Prayer Group will meet, with as ever a long list of requests and dedications for loved ones in need, the up and coming election, the continuing distressing troubles of Gaza and Ukraine and the need for peace. Please do let us know if you have any special requests by replying to this email.

Congratulations to Simon, who was sworn in as our churchwarden this week and joins David with the role of helping us to operate during interregnum which we pray will soon change, we just await Bishop Olivia's return from holiday for the next stage.

You will also have seen Simons email about needing to recruit for our regular choir to continue the excellent standard of weekly music at WSL. Next Saturday at the Festival could be a good place to ask around and spot any potential singers.

Also I have received many kind offers of cakes for the tea tent next Saturday, but am very happy to receive more, as tickets are selling well. Please let me have them, by either dropping off with Shelia Kiss at Coltmans Cottage on The Street- Friday afternoon , on at the cricket ground between 10-12 am on the day. Please label tins/containers if you would like them returned. Shout at me [email protected] any questions.

A reminder that there is no breakfast café next Sunday, due to a busy day at the Festival for many and café is on Sunday 23 June.

Thank you again to everyone who contributes to the running of our churches, it is a team effort and we are only as good as our team.

Hope lots of you can join us in some way next Saturday- I see many people are involved already, but come along to the tea tent for a warm welcome and some happy moments.

Wishing everyone a happy and blessed weekend,
