Our Building

Here at St Mary's we are delighted to have five stained glass windows designed by the well known glass artist Geoffrey Webb. He was articled to Sir Ninian Comper, the Gothic Revival Architect. He moved to Sackville House in the High Street in 1914 and had his workshop at Brookers Yard in West Street.
Geoffrey's designs are distinctive. He is know for leaving areas of clear or white glass which brings light flooding in to the interiors. This also enhances the coloured glass, in particular the brilliant blue, which is often a feature in his work. As with all his work, he "signed" them with a depiction of a spider's web, a punning reference to his family name.

St Mary's is open most days during office hours for individual Prayer.

St Mary's is registered as an Eco Church, our Eco Group publish a newsletter quarterly.
Gold winner 2023 of South and South East in Bloom Churchyard and Trustees awards.
