Despite the weather, our Christmas Gift Appeal on 26th November was a huge success. It brought together people from across the community - young and old, families and couples.
We had carols, readings, time to chat over mulled wine and mince pies and then the star appearance with an excellent list of jokes. Wide eyed, the children gave gifts to Santa for him to distribute to those who would otherwise have nothing this Christmas. The Rotary Club said they expect to make-up over 450 parcels for families, each one bringing joy on 'the big day'. Donnington's contribution filled an estate car to the gunnels
Thanks to donations and the sale of mulled wine, we will also be passing £242 onto the Rotary who will be helping families put traditional Christmas dinner on the table.
And then we dressed the tree and switched on the Star to shine over us.
