St Margaret's - The Beacon Parish

Getting here

St Margaret's church is located in the centre of Ditchling village and can be accessed from West Street or the High Street. The church is usually open every day of the week from about 9 am, or sometimes earlier.

The ancient village sitting below Ditchling Beacon has some of the finest listed buildings in Sussex, and holds a unique position in the country for the size and history of its artistic community, which reached its peak in the early 20th century when the parish was the focal point of a large arts and crafts movement.

The church with its churchyard, the village green, the village pond and Ditchling museum all share the space to the north west of the village cross roads, and the area is seen as the focal point for the village itself.

Access to the church for disabled folk is not ideal at present, but most easily achieved via Church Lane which runs off the High Street.  A disabled car park is located at the end of Church Lane.

The newly re-opened Ditchling museum of Art & Craft holds a unique collection of work by Ditchling artists and craftsmen.
