Denton Parish Church Identity and Purpose

 In 2010 we at Denton Parish Church (St. Leonard’s) looked at the life and identity of our church and explored “Growing Healthy Churches” together.   Many questions arose about how and why we do the things we do and the way in which we do them. A PCC away-day in October followed up these questions and from this a small group was formed who committed to meeting regularly under the sensitive guidance of a representative of CPAS. To date, the PCC have approved and adopted an Identity Statement that, we believe, accurately reflects the life and work of our church here in Denton:

 “We are the local church serving the spiritual needs of this community with an historic Anglican tradition” 

The PCC have also approved and adopted a Statement of Purpose for the church.

 “We exist to:

      Encounter God in Worship,

      Enjoy each other’s company,

      Experience God’s love for the world,

      Express that love in our community”

We hope to establish our final ‘Mission Statement’ with our new incumbent, believing God is calling us to a new and exciting future together.
