St Bartholomew, Burwash

We welcome you to St Bartholomew's Burwash, a beautiful medieval church in the heart of the High Weald.   This is one of the three churches in the United Benefice of Burwash, Burwash Weald and Etchingham.

We have large numbers of visitors every year, quite often from overseas and often following a visit to the National Trust property, Bateman's.  Many nice remarks are left in the visitors' book.  The doors are open every day from about 9 am to dusk (but varying according to the season).

Safeguarding

Our parish of Burwash: St Bartholomew is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Chichester’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO, Mary Westhead, whose details are on the Safeguardintg tab to the left, or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (click on the button). If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
