The Friends of St Bartholomew's Church, Burwash.

Burwash Church belongs to the whole village and is much valued locally. Recognizing that any ancient church costs a lot to maintain, a group of people founded the Friends of St Bartholomew’s Church, Burwash with the aim of providing financial support. Some of its members don’t worship regularly but want to show that they support the beautiful church building.

The Friends have raised very substantial sums over the years and have contributed generously to projects and maintenance. The most recent example, in 2020, was the retiling of the nave and side aisle roof which cost nearly £100,000.

Now in 2023/4 a huge project is under way which will entail fundraising by The Friends and several requests for grants.  The hope is to install a lavatory at last, as well as a proper kitchenette and an area enclosed with glazed panels for smaller or more intimate events.
