Getting here

Welcome to St Michael’s, set in the heart of Amberley.

We are the largest of the four churches that serve the tiny parishes of Amberley, Greatham, Parham and Wiggonholt in the Wildbrooks Benefice of West Sussex.

Our hamlets and villages are set in a stunning part of the South Downs, flanked by the River Arun and include woodland, the huge floodplain of the Wildbrooks and the downlands too. Our whole benefice is in part of the newly created National Park of the South Downs.

But we’re more than pretty houses and pretty churches in a pretty part of the country. We’re proud to be Christians and belong to a faith and a tradition that goes back centuries.

St Michael’s, serves the village of Amberley, and the area has belonged to the church from around 670AD, though the building itself dates to around 1100AD.

Our worship reflects the old and the new. We celebrate communion with the modern wording three Sundays a month and use the Book of Common Prayer for other services. Our music is a mix of old and new.
